Since an example is worth a thousand words, here are a few.

Search Wikipedia
Search Google
Search the Internet Movie Database
Search Netflix
Visit your Netflix queue
Go to your Gmail inbox
Search your Gmail inbox
Compose a new email via Gmail
Map an address
Look up local pizza parlors in the yellow pages
Look up a word in the dictionary

Each of these is called a "launcher", and your default launcher kit contains hundreds of launchers to common sites and web apps. Create your own and share them with everyone (if you think they are of general usefulness), or keep them private if not.

Catapult does not require any local installation, just set your homepage to the launch page and you're set to go. You can create an account to change your launcher kit or create your own launchers, but it's not necessary if you want to just use the default kit anonymously.
